Ethics Guidelines
The editors of the Journal of Teaching Disability Studies understand that ethical expectations and practices for publications are not the same everywhere. The following guidelines are intended to be helpful by making our expectations transparent. These guidelines have been substantially copied and adapted from the publisher Emerald’s “ethics guidelines.”
Authors submitting works to Journal of Teaching Disability Studies do so on the understanding if it is discovered that these principles have not been adhered to, the journal editors will respond as needed, considering the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
During the submission process, you will be asked to confirm that your submission follows ethical and access standards. Please review the Ethics Guidelines below and Accessibility Guidelines page for more information.

Plagiarism
The following should be avoided:
- Verbatim copying of more than 10 percent (or a significant passage or section of text) of another person’s work without acknowledgment, references or the use of quotation marks.
- Improper paraphrasing, which consists of more than one sentence within a paragraph or section of text that have been changed or sentences have been rearranged without appropriate attribution. Significant improper paraphrasing (more than 10 percent of a work) without appropriate attribution is considered as seriously as verbatim copying.
- Re-use of elements of another person’s work, for example, a figure, table or paragraph without acknowledgment, references or the use of quotation marks and without obtaining copyright permission.
- Self-plagiarism and submitting work that has been published before.

Conference Papers and Preprints
Please notify the editors if a version of your submission has been previously published as a conference paper or as a preprint. By preprint, we mean a pre-submission version of the work that the author may post online in order to get feedback. Neither of these will disqualify your submission as long as you have not already given away copyright to your work and you have substantially revised the preprint or conference paper before submitting it to Journal of Teaching Disability Studies.
Authorship
It is important that all authors that have made a significant contribution to the paper are listed. Anyone who provided support but did not make a significant contribution should be acknowledged in an Acknowledgements section.
Conflict of Interest
If there was any financial support for the research from third parties, or any other possible conflict of interest, a note to highlight this should be added to the submission before review.
