Call for Submissions

The Journal of Teaching Disability Studies
Issue #3

Deadline for submissions: November 15, 2021.

This year’s theme is “disability as diversity.” We are particularly interested in submissions that discuss disability studies pedagogy addressing the following:

  • Disability as a core component of diversity, along with race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, etc.
  • Disability Studies in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) pedagogy.
  • Disability within multiple marginalized identities.

Submissions should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, should be submitted in .doc or .docx as a single file.  We will accept submissions in APA, ASA, MLA or Chicago formats.  Multimedia can also be included.  Please see Accessibility Guidelines linked to the Guidelines for Authors (link is below) for information about including multimedia in your submission.

JTDS practices anonymous peer review for all submissions for the Issues section of the journal. Authors should complete a submission cover sheet for our internal tracking purposes, but remove all references to identity in the manuscript, following the instructions for Issues below.  Each submission will be forwarded to two anonymous peer reviewers for comment and recommendations, and these will be communicated to authors by JTDS editors for consideration and revision prior to a final publication decision.

All work should be original and previously unpublished. Submissions based on research should include discussions of approach, methodology, and analysis, and when possible, research data should be made publicly available. Successful approaches, as well as those that were not successful, will be considered.

Submissions are licensed through a Attribution-Non-Commercial-Share Alike International Creative Commons license.  Please see the link at the bottom of the page for details.

The Journal of Teaching Disability Studies aims to provide all content in formats that are accessible to all potential audiences. Work that incorporates a range of multimedia formats should take access into account. Detailed ethics guidelines, accessibility guidelines, and information about acceptable formats for submissions are available on the Guidelines for Authors page.

To submit: To facilitate peer review, remove all identifying characteristics from your submission.
